The Service Foundation for People with an Intellectual Disability develops individual solutions of a high quality to cater for the varying needs and situations of people with special support needs.
- We help provide opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to live in the community as active citizens.
- We wish to promote and raise awareness of a person-centred approach to the lives of people with intellectual disabilities.
- We aim to offer people with intellectual disabilities more choice and allow their voices to be heard in society.
- We design and implement development projects and organise different training courses.
Personal care assistants assist people with severe disabilities in their daily activities both at home and elsewhere. Access to personal assistance makes it possible to live a life on an equal footing with others.
Personal budgeting is a person-centred approach that makes it possible to plan the services needed in one's own life. With personal budgeting, the client decides for him/herself how to use funds granted by the local authorities.
Our group of experts consists of people with intellectual disabilities who participate in developing the operations and services of the Service Foundation for People with an Intellectual Disability. We think that it is important for people with intellectual disabilities to be heard and for their views and experiences to be taken into account when planning our work.
We work in close co-operation with people with intellectual disabilities and their families, with local authorities and with both national and international parties.
