Respite and Short Break Services

The Foundation provides and develops a range of short break services. The aim is to offer a nationwide, diverse and flexible package of short break services, which are sensitive to the changing needs of the family and the individual with special needs.

Nationwide Services

Stand-in carer

A stand-in carer provides support at the family home during the parents’ holiday or during the family carer’s day off. The stand-in carer supports the person with a disability as well as any siblings. The service is available nationwide.

Short-term family placement

A child, a young person or an adult with an intellectual disability can be looked after by a carer at the carer’s own home so that parents or a family carer can have a short break. The service is offered in the Tampere region, South Karelia, Central Finland, Southern Ostrobothnia, the Kuopio region and in Lapland.

Long-term family placement

The long-term family placement project seeks new alternatives for housing with the help of the family placement-service model. The pilot areas for the project are the Tampere region and Central Finland.

Group based services

The group-based services offer not only safe caring but also meaningful activities and social companionship. The activities include stand-in caring for groups of individuals, courses based on themes or hobby interests, camps, supported holidays as well as group breaks during national holidays held in different parts of Finland.
