Service Foundation for People with an Intellectual Disability (KVPS)
We produce services all over Finland. Our aim is to find individual solutions and to create high-quality services to support people with intellectual disabilities or special support needs and their families.
Working with KVPS always ensures innovative approaches, both if you are working from an academic or Human Rights perspective or you’re working on practice-oriented solutions. KVPS is one of the most active and brilliant organisations around Finland, and it shows.

Promoting Equal Opportunities – Developing Together
The KVPS was founded by Inclusion Finland KVTL which is a non-governmental organisation aiming to promote equal opportunities in society for people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
We receive funding from Finland’s Slot Machine Association (STEA).
What do we do?
- We work to promote a good life for people with intellectual disabilities and their families by lobbying decision-makers and legislators. We co-operate in advocacy work with NGO’s and other parties involved in the field.
- We promote a person-centred approach to the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. We advocate their full citizenship rights. We carry out development projects and organise various kinds of training.
- We offer a wide variety of respite care services to cater for the different needs and situations of families and people with special support needs. We support parents in coping with their situation and make it possible for carers to have short breaks and days off.
- We acquire apartments for young people and adults with intellectual disabilities who wish to live on their own. We develop group housing for people with special support needs.
We offer respite care services for 650 families in 120 municipalities. We provide homes for 1100 persons. Every year, we organise 500 events, seminars or training courses.
We are responsible and reliable partner. We promote reforms and lobby decision-makers together with our partners. Our work is guided by values based on respect for the individual.
